Who are we?

Miramichi Transit is a not-for-profit public bus service offered inside Miramichi city limits to the areas of Chatham, Chatham Head, Newcastle and Douglastown. Service is offered Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three bus lines cover the city (Green, Blue and Red). In operation since 2009.

Who works with us?

Guided by a board of directors, Miramichi Transit is led by the transit manager and an administrative assistant who both work out of the head office on General Manson Way. There are five full-time bus drivers and five part-time bus drivers currently employed.

What do we have for infrastructure?

We have seven buses in operation including four which were added to the fleet in 2018.  Transit is also responsible for 36 bus shelters across the city.

Where do we get our revenue?

Transit generates revenue from passenger fares, ticket sales and bus passes. We sell advertising on our bus shelters and on the outside of our buses. Transit also generates revenue through charter service within city limits and Miramichi Transit receives an annual subsidy from the City of Miramichi.

What are our office hours?

The office is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m and the office is closed on stat holidays.

What are our future goals?

Increase passenger volume. Increase advertising sales on bus shelters and buses. Improve efficiency of service. Improved marketing, public relations.
